Mathey-Tissot, Triple Calendar Chronograph, Made in the 1970s. Fine, manual-winding, 18 karat yellow gold wristwatch with square button chronograph, registers,  triple date and moon phases.

Case: Three-body, polished and brushed, concave lugs, inclined bezel, snap-on case back.

Dial: Brushed silver with applied Arabic numeral at 12 and gold markers, outer minutes and 1/5th seconds track, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12- hour and 30-minute registers, apertures for the days of the week, the months and the moon phases. Thin hands.

Movement: Valjoux 72, gilt brass, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance with screws, blued steel over-coiled balance spring, index regulator.

Edmond Mathey-Tissot established his watchmaking  business in the village of Les Ponts-de-Martel in 1886. He began by specializing in complication,   with mostly repeater  pocket watches. The firm soon proceeded to make Chronograph and won a number of prizes.

Mathey Tissot supplied watches to the United States Army during the First World War and also during the Second World War. However the company is miost famous for being the supplier of the Type XX sold by Breguet to the French Navy and Air Force . The Company supplied case, movement and blank dials to Breguet until the 1970’s. They also supplied Triple date Chronograph similar to the one above to Breguet for their customers.
